Partner 3: TUT (Tallinn University of Technology, Estonia)
TUT has the role in the project of responsible for development and testing of biomimetic robots.
Prof. Maarja Kruusmaa received her Ph.D. in 2002 from Chalmers University of Technology (Sweden). In 2003 she co-founded an Intelligent Materials and Systems Laboratory in Tartu University Institute of Technology. Since 2007 she is appointed to professor of biorobotics and invited to establish a Center for Biorobotics in TUT. Her research experience includes intelligent algorithms for learning robots, biomimetic robots, fish swimming robots, electroactive polymer artificial muscles and their control. She is an author of ca 60 publications in robot learning and bio-inspired robotics and five patent applications. She is one of the founders of Fits.me that was selected in top 100 of world’s most promising startups by Innovate!2010. She is also the coordinator of FP7 project FILOSE (FIsh LOcomotion and SEnsing).
Dr. Madis Listak has a long experience in underwater engineering and he is particularly knowledgeable in experimental validation of underwater applications.
Dr. Hadi el Daou has completed his Ph.D. in Pierre et Marie CURIE University in Paris and has his expertise in mechanical modelling, in particular locomotion analysis with analytical methods.
Dr. Mart Anton has received his Ph.D. in Tartu University in mechanical modelling of electroactive polymer artificial muscles and he is currently working on numerical methods for solid fluid interaction.
Taavi Salumäe and Gert Toming are Ph.D. students focusing on fish swimming mechanics and fluid solid interaction respectively.
Jaas Ježov is a Ph.D. student focusing on computational fluid dynamics.
